The directory is designed as a faithful, searchable layer over public records. Source values remain distinguishable from our matching, location and presentation work.
Import the weekly register
The Traffic Commissioners’ goods and public service vehicle operator licence CSV files are collected after their Sunday publication. Each import is retained as a dated snapshot.
Normalise without rewriting facts
Names, postcodes and addresses are normalised for search and geography. The source spelling, licence type, status value and vehicle figures remain preserved.
Deduplicate licences and centres
Repeated rows caused by multiple directors, partners or transport managers are collapsed into one licence record while operating centres remain individually addressable.
Match company records cautiously
Companies House numbers supplied by the register are treated as the strongest key. Name and address matching may suggest a candidate but is never presented as confirmed without a defensible identifier.
Calculate changes between snapshots
A licence is marked new or removed only relative to adjacent source snapshots. Field changes identify what changed, without judging why or what it means for compliance.
